Do you have a hard time controlling your emotions?

Pseudobulbar Affect is a condition characterized by frequent episodes of inappropriate laughing or crying that are out of proportion to the situation at hand. Pseudobulbar Affect is associated with a number of neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury and other neurological disorders. The outbursts can occur spontaneously or in response to stimuli such as questions or events. Regardless of its origins, the syndrome can have a number of problematic social consequences, which may depend on the frequency and intensity of the behavior.

Our site is conducting a research study of an investigational new drug for Pseudobulbar Affect.

Qualified participants must:

  • Be between 18 and 75 years of age
  • Have a clinical diagnosis of pseudobulbar affect
